Occupy Burlington, less than a week old, has already arranged many events over the next week and all are invited to attend! Below are just a few highlighted events happening today and this weekend. All day, Every day, Occupation of City Hall Park Burlington

Description: Those planning to camp in the park are encouraged to bring everything they think they might need, including sleeping bags, tents, blankets, clothing, food, water, games, music, etc. A discussion will happen in the park about the possibility of moving the occupation to another location. 12pm – 2pm General Assembly: Housekeeping/Campers

Where: City Hall Park

Description: This general assembly will function mainly like a standard general assembly, except with a focus on proposals and report-backs related specifically to the logistics and needs of the camp. Other event announcements, issue report-backs, and proposals unrelated to the well-being of the camp should be reserved for the evening general assembly at 5pm, or for the Sunday GA at 2pm.

5pm – 6:30pm General Assembly: Events/Announcements

Where: Occupy Burlington, City Hall Park

Description: This general assembly will provide a space for reports regarding other occupations, as well as proposals and announcements regarding actions and events coming up. Proposals not related to upcoming events or other occupations should be reserved for Sunday’s GA at 2pm. Also there is a general assembly earlier in the day (12-2pm) for housekeeping/campers’ concerns.

1pm – 4pm “Bank Transfer Day” Open Forum on Credit Unions

Where: Occupy Burlington!

Description: Since the call to move money from Too Big to Fail banks to local, cooperatively owned credit unions has spread through “Bank Transfer Day” (http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=281139538577206), the profile of the credit union movement has been substantially raised. In recognition of this, we are pleased to announce that an open forum on the credit union movement has been scheduled for this November 5th. Credit Union historian Matt Cropp will be giving a brief talk on the origins and development of credit unions, and we will then hold a facilitated community discussion on the topic. If you have any insights or opinions to share, or are simply curious, feel free to stop by! Description: Student Movement Group – Burlington College, Champlain, UVM, CCV –Organizing via Facebook, fliers, student banner – Bring spirit of Occupy to schools.  Meets 11am Sundays inthe Northwest corner of City Hall Park.

11:30am – 12:30pm Strategy/Direct Action Group meeting

Where: By the statue in City Hall Park, Burlington

Description: The Strategy Group will meet Sundays at 11:30 at the statue in City Hall Park. All are welcome to get involved.

12:30pm – 1:30pm Occupy Burlington March & Rally

Where: City Hall Park, Church St, Burlington

Description: For the past few weeks, we’ve been quickly growing in size; now, we begin to add increasing frequency as well as increasing size as our movement for justice continues to build. We march to demonstrate our solidarity with the Wall Street occupiers and to object to the increasingly brutal tactics being used by the police. We have decided to continue to meet and rally each Sunday until the occupation ends, and we invite you to join us. Please make and bring signs that show your support for the occupation and your opposition to the use of police violence to repress it, and spread this event widely! Description: General assemblies are a place where the masses can come together to share important information and proposals, and make democratic decisions! Several new facilitators have joined the team and will be forming an agenda to propose for this week’s GA on Saturday evening.
